“The Neely family's southeast Shelby smokehouse”
Neely's Interstate on Winchester is the southeast Memphis link in the Neely-family barbecue line, run by Jim Neely's son Ken and his family. They planted it in a stretch of the city they set out to serve directly, carrying the 1978 Third Street legacy closer to the neighborhoods that grew up on it. The menu keeps the family signatures: chopped pork sandwiches with real smoke, dry-rub ribs pulled from the pit, and the barbecue spaghetti that made the Neely name, smoked pork woven through a BBQ-spiced tomato sauce over pasta. Hickory-smoked wings and a proper crisp cole slaw round out the tray. It is the Interstate tradition transplanted to Winchester Road, still cooked by the people whose name is on the sign, and still built on the sauced, wet-rib style the family helped define.
Run by Jim Neely's son Ken, this Winchester Road pit carries the 1978 Interstate legacy into southeast Memphis. The chopped pork, dry ribs, and family barbecue spaghetti keep the Neely name cooking close to home.

Neely's Interstate BBQ is mid-range ($$).
Neely's Interstate BBQ serves Memphis Style barbecue — Memphis BBQ is rib country. The great debate is wet vs. dry: dry ribs are coated in a paprika-heavy spice rub and served without sauce, while wet ribs are glazed with a tomato-vinegar based sauce. Memphis also claims BBQ spaghetti and the BBQ nachos.
